The Trouble With the Tooth Fairy

Alyssa lost her second tooth late last night. She was thrilled, of course, as it's a big event in the life of a child. She placed her tooth under her pillow just as any child expecting a visit from the Tooth Fairy would do.

I have issues with the Tooth Fairy. She's sweet and thoughtful and provides children with that wonderful feeling of anticipation, but she causes me trouble and anxiety that her other holiday cohorts do not.

Caleb accidently swallowed his first lost tooth. We had to arrange a phone conversation with the Tooth Fairy to explain the situation. We've never had to call the Easter Bunny. She has also forgotten to come on more than one occasion. Santa never forgets. And there's always the risk that she will wake the sleeping child, which I'm convinced is what happened this morning. We must have been last on her list last night (I think she always comes to our house late because we seem to be so easy to forget) so she made an early morning stop.

Alyssa woke this morning to find both a dollar and her tooth under her pillow. It was great that Dad just happened to be in the room so that she could share her excitement. She wondered how she could be so lucky to be able to keep her tooth, doesn't the Tooth Fairy usually take it with her? I explained that she was most likely worried about waking her so she just decided to leave it. "I thought I heard something," she said.

The Tooth Fairy may be a pain in my side but the kids love her and since we've got many more teeth to lose at our house, I hope she'll continue to visit.

Ah the tooth fairy. Another time-honored tradition. How come we adults don't have any money-making schemes like that? Anyway, Lyssie is adorable!

That is hilarious!

Hopefully the Tooth Fairy will get it together one of these days. And hopefully she won't have the same problems at our house. :)

Too funny. The tooth fairy has forgot at our house too with Jonas. Luckily it was on a Sunday and we told him that it was most likely because she didn't work on Sunday, so the following night she left $2.00. He was so excited that he purposely waited until Sunday when his other tooth was loose to lose it! She's too cute showin off her money!

I think we had our share of troubles with the Tooth Fairy as well. She just doesn't seem to stay on top of things like the other guys do.

Maybe it because she has so much more to do. Santa and the Easter Bunny only have one day each to worry about. Poor Tooth Fairy is busy all night, every night.

One thing for sure, there's not a cuter toothless 7 year old to be found.

I am glad to know that the tooth fairy doesn't just miss us.

Rylie woke up one morning crying because the tooth fairy forgot. Oops, what could we say. We made sure she came the next night!

Bah! Thie tooth fairy has been out of town all week and the dang assistant keeps forgetting or falling asleep before the toothless. I don't know how many more excuses I can make for that lousy assistant! What a flake!

I'm not the partner-in-crime for the toothfairy/easter bunny either. But, you're right, our kids love it. Although, one year, Seth forgot to look under his pillow and we had forgot to leave anything underneath it. So, we snuck up during the middle of the day, and later asked him if the tooth fairy had visited. He bolted up the stairs and was ecstatic to find his dollar.
