Memorial Day Weekend 2013

The kids had an extra long Memorial Day break this year due to two snow days that we didn't end up using.  We decided to take advantage and have some fun.

On Saturday we went to the "Felix Perfect Game Bobblehead Night" at Safeco Field.  The Mariners lost but it's still always fun to go to the game.

Caleb made a new friend.  They cheered and chanted all night long.

The girls danced and danced until the camera finally found them.

Alyssa gave her first sacrament meeting talk on Sunday.  She did an excellent job!  After church we drove to the Tri-Cities to get some cousin time.

The kids had a blast, as always.  Ansel was out of town with some friends and his absence definitely changed the dynamic.  It was interesting to watch.

On Monday evening, Grandma and Grandpa Hatch arrived.  We said a quick hello and heard just a bit about their trip.  (They brought Alyssa some postcards and a purse from Egypt which she shared with her social studies class because it fits right in with their current studies.  She said her teacher was "thrilled.")

After measuring Caleb next to Grandpa--he's getting so close to Grandpa's height--we headed to Yakima to see my family.

On Tuesday morning we went out to breakfast.  Alyssa thought her gluten-free chocolate waffle was delicious!  We just love it when restaurants are so accommodating.

After breakfast we visited my mom's classroom for the last time.  She is finishing up a 30-year teaching career.  How amazing is that?

Her students were at lunch so we took some pictures to document her room.  Many a lives were impacted here:

Mom took the rest of the day off to spend time with us.  We had a great dinner and then played some bocce ball.

Simple moments.  Good memories.  A great holiday weekend.
