Camp Parsons

Caleb spent the past week at Camp Parsons situated on the Olympic Peninsula on the shores of the Hood Canal. Camp Parsons is the oldest Boy Scout Camp west of the Mississippi River and has held annual Boy Scout camps since 1919. Even Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts, visited the camp and scouters in 1926.

Jon was able to spend one day and two nights with the scouts. Caleb told his dad that the spiritual thoughts he shared with the boys were a special part of the week for him. He said they helped him learn a lot. What a great compliment.
They evidently had a great father-son talk while they watched the sunset.
Caleb tried starting the fire with flint. He came really close but couldn't quite get it started.

I hear the food was less than desirable most of the week and the leaders were a bit concerned with how little Caleb ate. But he liked being the chef when he got the chance.
Flag ceremony:

Patrol games...which Caleb says they won "pretty much every event." Caleb hears music and feels the groove...

He arrived home exhausted but had a great time and earned 3 merit badges, too.

On the ferry coming back home...skyline of the city in view.

He showered and downed the majority of a large pizza.

I was so excited to see him, a week is a long time! I hugged him tight. And now I feel whole again.

What a beautiful camp, with a lot of history. I'm glad you had a good time, except for the food, Caleb. Congrats on the Merit Badges. Pretty neat that you also got to ride on the ferry.
