The final candy counts are in.
Here are the ten most collected types:
Total number of treats collected: 449Estimated time to consume total: 3 months (according to Alyssa)
Too bad my top two, Twix and Almond Joy, didn't even make the top 20 with only 9 and 4 respectively.
Why do we sort? I don't know. It's fun. And it gets that fruity garbage away from the good stuff.
Bowl at left: No temptation whatsoever.
Bowl at right: Tempts me every minute of every day!
At the rate we're going, there's no way our stash is going to last three months.

AWESOME! I didn't sort but am proud of myself that I convinced the boys to toss all their candy (after a hefty consumption today). But, yes, I will agree - bowl on left does nothing for me. It could be around for a year and nothing would be gone. Bowl on right? Gone. Probably this week. Which is why.....
Fascinating stuff Tara! I love charts and graphs. I'd be interested to see our candy on a chart. Hmmm...maybe tomorrow when the kids are in school when there's no one around to audit the count. :)
How long did it take to collect 446pieces of candy? What a good teacher you are...every event is a learning experience.
We have about 120 leftover pieces of candy (all chocolate)...must get rid of them ASAP.
Unfortunately for me, the chocolate FAR outweighs the fruity stuff in our case. Seems everyone went to Costco and got the same "Hershey's Chocolate Mix". Good luck resisting!
Fun! We did a scaled down version for Owen's kindergarten homework. Ansel weighed his bag and it came in at 5 lbs. I've done good at staying away from it so far....What do your kids like better, the bowl on the left or right?
What a crack up! We did the same exact thing and I have a jar much like your left side filled. Which is no tempation at all for me. I froze all of my favorites in hopes that I would keep my hands off of them. As for the rest thank goodness for scouts, school donations and young mens!
Such a scientific approach to the occasion. I think chocolate is almost always better than fruity. Licorice is the exception I believe.
I wish the bowl on the left wasn't a temptation for me. Of course I would eat the chocolate first, but when that runs out I'd eat the junk next. It still has sugar in it, right?
I'm the exact opposite, I much prefer the fruity stuff to the chocolate! What a fun thing to do... sort the candy and have the kids make a graph. I'm going to have my kids do that next year!
